So... As I saw 2001 in 70mm last year I was wondering which print that actually was. Someone said it was a digital remaster but then printed on 70mm... However, I find that hard to believe because the film had all kinds of black spots and scratches all throughout the film. I recently saw Lawrence of Arabia in 70mm and that print was nearly free of any faults. I figure that the print of Lawrence of Arabia was the digitally remastered one and the 2001 one just an old print?

Really looking forward to see this new print of 2001, I wonder how big the differences will be.

A digital master of a film print may or may not have any visible artifacts. You can’t really tell.

Okay. I asked the theater for confirmation but I haven't gotten a reaction yet.

Just got back from this. Holy shit did this look amazing. The print was absolutely gorgeous. And even more impressive was the sound. I never knew what I was missing, not hearing it like this. People were literally covering their ears during the monolith call and a few other scenes.

Although it was a little depressing that there were only about 25 people there on a it's first Friday night in the area.
