Most of the noms are pretty expected and quite deserving. The one that stands out to me is Cinematography. I'm shocked and a bit disgusted it was nominated over films like Midsommar, Ad Astra, Us, The Farewell, Parasite, The Two Popes, Jojo Rabbit or Shadow.
When it comes to the Best Director category, aren't like, only other director members of the Academy to blame? I mean if you're a member, you only get to vote for nominees in your own profession. I mean, of course it'd help to nominate women more and for the Academy to invite more women to join them but in the end...
I know many of you don't like the film, but the film was nominated in 10 other categories, so just from a logic standpoint wouldn't it make sense to also nominated the person who is responsible for overseeing everyone else's work.
