Venom (2018)
21 on RT top critics, 31 on meta. Good job Sony.
Saw it last week, it's pretty bad. Not a single joke landed with me.

Just watched this with bros, we had so much fun. Hardy is great but Venom still manages to steal the show. Now I want to see him in actual Spidey movie.
Yeah, I saw it for the first time a few days ago... it was really shit. You could argue that some scenes are fun, but why would you try to defend a movie that descends into empty, one-dimensional madness in the third act? What is the third act about anyway? It's some contrived mess. And the film got to a point when Venom actually lectured a criminal (a petty robber, mind you) and tried to scare him off - THEN chopped his head off instead. What the fuck? What is the tone of this film? I'm pretty sure these things could've worked if the film could've agreed on its tone from the start, but it just ended up being a mix of... everything and nothing. It's a mess - and even some of the Venom action felt lame.

I wouldn’t even think about defending this, but it’s going under ’guilty/not guilty’ slot for me this year. It’s a Venom movie, for better or worse. I’ve never red a better Venom comic book (aside from Mr.Cates’ recent endeavours, of course), but I’ve red PLENTY worse in the 90s. As a Tom Hardy curiosity, as a showcase for Venom character (that should and will eventually be in a Spidey movie): hell yeah. VE’NAM.
Hardy makes this movie tolerable for me. It's weird because I hated every single other aspect of this movie, but I would watch it again simply because I thought he was fantastic in it.
