Ridley Scott eyes David Scarpa‘s Black List script for his next project. He wants Natalie Portman and Jack Nicholson to star.
The film is a drama based on the real-life kidnapping and ransom of John Paul Getty III, the grandson of oil tycoon John Paul Getty. One of the richest men in the world at the time, the Getty Family patriarch at first refused to pay the ransom, despite attempts by the boy’s mother, Abigail Harris.
Portman is wanted for the role of Harris and Nicholson as the snior oil tycoon.
Rising star Charlie Plummer has landed the coveted role of J. Paul Getty’s kidnapped grandson in Ridley Scott and Imperative’s “All the Money in the World,” sources tell Variety.
Michelle Williams, Mark Wahlberg, and Kevin Spacey are currently on board to star in the drama, with Scott directing. Sony Pictures will distribute.
“I just consumed it,” Scott told EW about the script. “I knew about the kidnapping, but this story was very, very provocative… Gail Getty [the boy’s mother, played by Williams] was an exceptional character, and there are many facets of the man Getty that make him a really great study. There’s this great dynamic. It was like a play, and not a movie.”
Will be released on December 8th.
Let's hope he turned it into a film and not a play
