Bright

There were certain things I really liked about Bright especially the first 30 minutes but it became something else after that. More like all over the place after that.

Molly's Game

Good but too much dialogue. I know that's Sorkin but when you don't understand poker or not that familiar with it made it hard to keep up at times. All of the performances were really good.

Stuff's only just beginning to come out in Aus

So far it's

1. Dunkirk
2. The Last Jedi
3. Call Me by Your Name
4. Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri

Hopefully these aren't on there once I'm done with the '17 films:

Coco
Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2
Thor: Ragnarok
Logan
Victoria and Abdul
Spider-Man: Homecoming

so yeah forgive me if I'm not yet on the "this is a great year for movies" bandwagon

I don't understand everyone's love for The Last Jedi.
Ignoring the myriad of problems with it—such as Porgs, the worse-than-the-Prequels casino planet, horrid CGI, Space Horsies, Luke dying exactly like Obi-Wan but via a Force Skype Call, Ben Solo asking Rey to join him just like Darth Vader, the plothole-filled and extremely slow space chase, and Snoke dying like a complete bitch making you wonder why he wasn't killed long ago—it's just a mediocre, average Star Wars movie.
Nothing special about it whatsoever.

Haven't seen many movies this year. Ranked in descending quality:
Dunkirk
Macbeth (2015)
The Last Jedi
Thor Ragnarok
Wonder Woman
Justice League
Guardians Of The Galaxy 2

There's a huge leap down in quality from Dunkirk to Macbeth, and a similarly huge leap from Macbeth to The Last Jedi. I only saw movies that were necessary pop culture-wise to see, besides Macbeth and maybe some extremely unmemorable movies on Netflix. I intend to see Blade Runner 2049, The Disaster Artist, John Wick 2, Logan, Spider-Man Homecoming, and Get Out eventually.

But he saw it in 2017, therefore it must be a 2017 release.

Ree more please. The sound of frogs is very soothing. It's obviously from 2015, and I say that it's from 2015. Nice discovery you found there.

You are apparently oblivious to the common practice of listing movies outright or as honorable mentions on critics' lists to highlight them because they were previously unnoticed. Macbeth being on the list also nicely sums up how even a mediocre movie like itself is in another league compared to the mind numbing blockbusters of this year.
