Have you seen LA Takedown?
i've seen the proto-diner scene in LA Takedown but never the full thing. i really should sometime.

as you all know i'm a huge mann-head.

If The Departed can win Best Picture, Heat definitely could if it was released in the last 20 years instead of the last 30.

directors cut?
theatrical all the way. the directors cut is far inferior imo. the smash cut opening is everything.

We Have Always Lived in the Castle

This was a pretty faithful adaptation of the book but unlike the book the movie drags on a lot. I did however like the cinematography and the acting was great. Everyone was so perfectly cast. I think Alexandra Daddario did a great job in her role and she was exactly like the character in the book. I usually see her in like really shitty comedies or other lame movies so hopefully she can get way better roles soon.

I'd certainly recommend reading the book though. I read most of it during jury duty. It's really immersive and imaginative.
