I'm going to post this list even though I still haven't seen everything...

Michaelf2225's Top Ten List of 2016

here it goes...

1. La La Land (Dir. Damien Chazelle)

2. Silence (Dir. Martin Scorsese)

3. The Handmaiden (Dir. Park Chan-Wook)

4. Nocturnal Animals (Dir. Tom Ford)

5. Arrival (Dir. Denis Villeneuve)

6. Manchester by the Sea (Dir. Kenneth Lonergan)

(decently big gap)

7. American Honey (Dir. Andrea Arnold) - I want to make special note of this one because it's gotten some crap from Vader and Crazy which I've come to kinda agree with. But, looking back I still think it's an incredibly well put together film with great performances and an overall experience that I really, really enjoy despite the supposed lack of "characters." Also, it's too long.

8. Fences (Dir. Denzel Washington)

9. The Nice Guys (Dir. Shane Black)

10. Moonlight (Dir. Barry Jenkins)

I still have to see a few things - Lion and Hell or High Water spring to mind - but, I think this list is near complete though I'll probably shuffle the order at some point.

vader and crazy didnt like it but they're wrong so dont feel conflicted

I suck at making lists, but I will remember 2016 for Manchester by the Sea, The Lobster, Rogue One, Arrival, and Hidden Figures.

Ugh Hidden Figures was pure cheese and pure Oscar bait. It's baffling how it's even in the race this year.

Interesting that they both happen to have the same minority opinion on a critically acclaimed film.

For me, the standout for 2016 has been Moonlight, Arrival, Deepwater Horizon, Zootopia and Finding Dory.

Still need to see La La Land, Silence, Manchester by the Sea, Fences, Lion, Hell or High Water, Nocturnal Animal, Hacksaw Ridge, Captain Fantastic, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (there's probably more I'm missing).
