Today is a one year anniversary of the excellent Ultimate (aka: original) Cut of this movie:

We still feel the tremors.

This topic is dead, and I didn't participate in it, so I'll say it anyway: BvS could've been the best superhero movie of 2016. In fact, I say it would be easier to do than you think. Unfortunately, it wasn't. I honestly got an anxiety attack when I was in theater, when the whole Doomsday part started. I started panicking and was having hyperventilation problems. Rarely a movie can do that for me. So many weird editing choices. The Knightmare, the JL setup, the WW photograph plotline. I thought we were watching Batman vs. Superman, not plotlines vs. plotlines.

I know you said you're late on this, but yeah, that's actually a decent summary of this film.

After my first viewing of this, I remember feeling like we just went through about 5 films worth of content in 2 hours, which made me wonder what exactly was left to tackle, other than just seeing all the JL characters standing side by side.

Well, we got that, so like, what now?

People who thought this was bad... didn’t see Suicide Squad and Justice League.

People who liked it then... like it today.

What changed? Well, I for one can’t even think about rewatching it now since WB completely ruined the whole DC on Film story for me.

Good thing that came out of it, right after I saw Suicide Squad, I started re-discovering many of the good things that are now part of my monthly reportoar. Mainly Marvel and Image stuff. So thanks, WB.

At a recent Directors Cut fan event (via Digital Spy), Snyder ripped the fans who were bothered by his choice to make Batman bleak to the point of murder.

“Oh like, ‘Batman killed a guy’. I’m like, ‘Really? Wake the fuck up,'” Snyder said. “So I guess that’s what I’m saying about, once you’ve lost your virginity to this fucking movie and then you come and say to me something like, ‘My superhero wouldn’t do that’, I’m like, ‘Are you serious?’ I’m like down the fucking road on that. You know what I mean?”

“It’s a cool point,” Snyder continued. “Look, I’m 100% fine with it. It’s a cool point of view to be like, ‘My heroes are still innocent. My heroes didn’t lie to America. My heroes didn’t embezzle money. My heroes didn’t commit any atrocities.’ I’m like, ‘That’s cool but you’re living in a fucking dreamworld.'”

He’s a man child and sounds bitter that people know the character more than he does lol. If he was trying to make a point by having his heroes act more extreme than ever, to paint a picture that no human being is innocent...well, he went overboard to the point where they simply weren’t likeable anymore.

lol, I’m no fan of Peterson but not sure I get this comparison at all. Peterson’s a bit of a clever troll while Snyder is just a dumbass lol.

That explanation was terrible. There are a 1000 other ways he could have explained it before resorting to that. Like maybe some pseudo intellectual stuff like how Batman killing represents how the US justice system is all to happy to resort to the death penalty. Something like that which gives his work some amount of integrity.

This is so disappointing and I'm so glad that I was taking a nap during the live streams.
