So this seems to be getting terrible reviews but in an 'it's so bad we would gladly forget it ever existed' kind of way instead of an 'it's so bad you gotta see it' kind of way.
I stopped reading the series after book 4 because I lost interest but the books I read were lots of fun. I think I prefer the first two books. I mean, 'Die Hard with Fairies' is actually a good summary of the first 3 books but don't give that stuff to Disney because they have no clue what to do with that sort of story.

I read many tweets comparing it to Eragon as a completely failed adaptation. I think I watched the Eragon film. I have almost no memory from it though.
