Tom Ford has revealed he plans to shoot his second movie later this year, following the critical success of his debut 2009 feature film “A Single Man.”

Ford wowed an A-list crowd in Los Angeles on Friday by taking the unusual step of staging his London Fashion Week fall/winter show in the heart of Hollywood as the movie industry gathers for Sunday’s Oscars.

Tom Ford made a successful foray into film-making five years ago with A Single Man, a drama based on Christopher Isherwood’s novel of the same name, which earned an Oscar nomination for Colin Firth.
Ford told AFP at Friday’s show that he is now planning to go behind the camera once more later this year.

And speaking with WWD, Ford reveals he’s adapting a not very well known book which he “refuses to name,” but that it’s a thriller.

At this point at least, he has little interest in taking on material pre-loaded with audience expectations. He has changed the title and made considerable revisions to the story. As planned, the film is in two parts, the first faithful to the original material, and the second, completely new

I really enjoyed A single man. Magnificent piece of art. Hope he will deliver this time as well. Wonder who will be casted? My wish is Fassbender.

That would be pretty cool to see Fass in a Ford movie. 8-)

Fashion designer Tom Ford may be sitting down behind the camera for the first time since 2009’s A Single Man, and this time is teaming up with George Clooney.

Ford is attached to direct Nocturnal Animals, the adaptation of an Austin Wright book titled Tony and Susan. Ford wrote the script for the post-modern noir thriller and will direct while Clooney will produce with his Smokehouse Pictures partner Grant Heslov.

Wright’s book was initially published in 1993 and tells of a woman named Susan who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband, a man whom she left 20 years earlier, asking for her opinion.

The book then tracks two stories: the story in novel, titled Nocturnal Animals, which tells of a man whose family vacation turns violent and deadly, and the story of Susan, who finds herself recalling her first marriage and confronting some dark truths about herself.

The project is in the early stages but it’s already attracting plenty of attention in the acting community. And why not?

Ford was the designer who turned around the fortunes of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent before opening his own fashion brand.

His love for cinema pushed him into film, and he co-wrote, directed and was a producer on his debut A Single Man. Ford received Indie Spirit nominations for best screenplay and best first feature and the movie won best movie at the AFI Film Festival. Star Colin Firth went on to garner an Academy Award nomination for best actor.

The project is not set up at a studio but Smokehouse does have a first look deal with Sony.

Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal in talks to star
Based on the novel by Austin Wright titled “Tony and Susan,” the plot is described as a “story inside a story,” with the first part following a woman named Susan who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband, a man whom she left 20 years earlier, asking for her opinion.

The second element follows the actual manuscript, called “Nocturnal Animals,” which revolves around a man whose family vacation turns violent and deadly. It also continues to follow the story of Susan, who finds herself recalling her first marriage and confronting some dark truths about herself.

Sources say actors were immediately drawn to the project when the script hit the market, and Adams was the first to sign on, as she was interested in the part of Susan, with Gyllenhaal pushing hard for the male lead.
