I thought it would be interesting to see which tracks stood out to people.

A couple memorable tracks for me:

Siefried Behrend - "Concerto for Lute and Plucked Strings I Moderato" (The Grand Budapest Hotel)
Clint Mansell - "Make Thee An Ark" (Noah)
Hans Zimmer - "I'm Spider-Man"/"We're Best Friends" (The Amazing Spider-Man 2)

Joel McNeely - "Main Title" (A Million Ways to Die in the West)
Danny Elfman - "I'm a Dog Too" (Mr. Peabody & Sherman)
Patrick Cassidy - "Na Mbeannaíochtaí (The Beatitudes I)" (Calvary)
John Powell - "Dragon Racing"/"For the Dancing and the Dreaming"/"Stoick's Ship" (How to Train Your Dragon 2)

Dickon Hinchliffe - "Baby" (Locke)
Michael Giacchino - "Planet of the End Credits" (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes)
Junkie XL & Ellie Goulding - "Choosing Dauntless" (Divergent)
Tyler Bates - "Sacrifice" (Guardians of the Galaxy)
Mark Mothersberg - "Main Theme" (22 Jump Street)
Marco Beltrami - "End Credits" (The Giver)
Steve Jablonsky - "Honor to the End" (Transformers: Age of Extinction)
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - "Sugar Storm"/"Like Home"/"Consummation" (Gone Girl)

I thought soundtracks are whole albums.

I think it might work both ways.

So far... nothing beats this for me. The whole OST of course.

A "soundtrack" is just that - the sound track of the film, including music, effects, dialogue, everything. How the *score* came to be known as the soundtrack is somewhat confusing to me. But now I'm being a pedantic prick.

It's been a good year. Powell and Desplat stand out. Zimmer wins.

Also Mica Levi's work for Under The Skin deserves more attention than it's gotten.
