Get the exclusive scoop on the Twin Peaks Blu-ray and DVD
Almost two months after Twin Peaks left us again, we’re still pondering the meaning of the show’s hauntingly surreal final act and the meaning of all the haunting and surreal things that happened throughout the rebooted series, an 18-part odyssey which ran throughout the summer on Showtime.

The mystery will deepen: On Dec. 5, Showtime Networks, CBS Home Entertainment, and Paramount Home Media Distribution will release Twin Peaks: A Limited Event Series on Blu-ray and DVD, with over six hours of special features. (Important note for completists: 80 minutes of behind-the-scenes material will only be available on the Blu-ray.)

EW is excited to exclusively share details of the home release, including a first look at the cover art and a behind-the-scenes clip. First, the cover. As noted below, the subtitle of the Blu-ray release is now A Limited Event Series, not The Return or The Third Season. Update your fan art accordingly.

The gloriously overstuffed special features include Impressions: A Journey Behind the Scenes of Twin Peaks, a set of ten short films (all around 30 minutes long) directed by Jason S., the filmmaker who previously directed the documentary David Lynch: The Art Life. Impressions reflect a considerable amount of access to the making of the new series. Here are the titles for you to ponder:

The Man with the Grey Elevated Hair
Tell it Martin
Two Blue Balls
The Number of Completion
Bad Binoculars
See You on the Other Side Dear Friend
Do Not Pick Up Hitchhikers
A Bloody Finger in Your Mouth
The Polish Accountant
A Pot of Boiling Oil

The set also includes Phenomenon, a three-part featurette in which cast and crew reflect on the show’s enduring legacy, along with artists, musicians, and creative personalities.

Both the DVD and Blu-ray will include the Twin Peaks Comic-Con panel moderated by Lost/Leftovers genius and Peaks scholar Damon Lindelof, and a behind-the-scenes photo gallery. Fans of Peaks will appreciate a collection of promos produced by Lynch. And for everyone who pondered the shifting colors of the opening Rancho Rosa screen, the set will group together all 18 opening logos.

But only the Blu-ray contains some other fan-baiting gems. Original cast member Richard Beymer directed two featurettes, Behind the Red Curtain and I Had Bad Milk in Dehradun, which follows Lynch and his collaborators as they shoot in the Red Room. Lastly, there is A Very Lovely Dream: One Week in Twin Peaks, directed by Charles DeLauzirika, which focuses on the return of the Twin Peaks cast to locations in Snoqualmie and North Bend that were used in the original Twin Peaks series.

Twin Peaks’: Mark Frost Is Considering Making New Episodes, Showtime ‘Musing as Well’
David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks” co-creator Mark Frost said today that he hasn’t decided yet if the show will come back for a fourth season, but it is something that is being considered.

“I haven’t decided yet,” said Frost in an interview with IndieWire. “I think it’s still an open question and it’s one that we’re looking at and one that I think Showtime is musing as well.”

Back in September, Lynch said that he hadn’t ruled out a fourth season. He told a crowd at the Belgrade Culture Centre in Serbia, where his photos were being exhibited, that it was too early to say anything and teased that a new season may entirely depend on how long it takes to develop.

“It’s something you have to think long and hard about,” said Frost. “We’ll make the decision when the time is right. There certainly is no sense of urgency about it.”

Why There Won’t Be Anymore ‘Twin Peaks’ – At Least, Not For a While
It doesn’t sound like Showtime viewers will be visiting the idiosyncratic town of “Twin Peaks” again — at least, not anytime soon.

“We’re thrilled we did ‘Twin Peaks.’ Absolutely thrilled,” Showtime Programming President Gary Levine said when asked about a potential return. “The work was extraordinary, the fan reaction was extraordinary and it was incredibly good for our brand and our network.”

“But let’s remember: It took 25 years for [co-creators] Mark [Frost] and for David [Lynch] to go from ‘1.0’ to ‘2.0,’” the HBO alum — who also worked on “Peaks” there in the very early 1990s — continued.

“What David did in the last two years was nothing short of Herculean,” Levine continued while on-stage with boss David Nevins at Saturday’s Television Critics Association press tour.

After all, Lynch directed, wrote, edited and composed music for all 18 hours of the 2017 “Twin Peaks” comeback. Oh yeah, and the guy even acted in it, too.

“I don’t know how soon he wants to do it,” Levine said of getting more out of Lynch and his key I.P.

Still: “The door at Showtime is always open for Mark and for David — for ‘Twin Peaks’ or anything else they want to talk about,” Levine concluded.

Someone put on a pot of coffee at the Lynch Estate.

Five episodes into season 1, and I don't think it's fully clicked with me just yet.
That being said, I still find myself oddly fascinated by it.

So I binge-watched this over the last few days and let me tell you, it plays much better on a rewatch. Mainly not hating every Dougie scene because you're just anxiously waiting for some Agent Cooper stuff. That whole Dougie storyline revealed itself as the best one of the entire show for me on a rewatch. Beautiful, touching and unique. And the last hour also plays much better, gotta say that reading some theories on it definitely helped, that one seems 100% spot on
It's my second favorite Lynch project just after Mulholland Drive. It's so epic, ambitious and dreamy. But I must admit that it's still over-indulgent. It could have been 14 to 16 hours without losing any of its qualities imo (9 hours would have been total butchering)

Best acting of the series: McLachlan (duh), Watts (truly appreciated her this time) , Belushi (comedy gold), Dern and Lynch (surprisingly...if I had knew beforehand he would have been the lead FBI role of the series, I would have been really skeptic)

There's too much positive, so I think discussing the flaws I have with it might be more interesting (although gotta say the THIS IS WHAT WE DO IN THE FBI moment might be my favorite thing ever)

-This is kinda my biggie, but the Twin Peaks stuff is by far the least interesting of the new series. It has an amazing scene (the Jack Rabbit Palace) but most of it feels a bit lifeless (a lot of the police station stuff) or repetitive (Dr. Amp is an hilarious payoff but has way too many scenes). Some characters have almost nothing to do (Robert Forster having to explain why his brother wasn't there 10 times) and a lot of the storylines there just end without anything. I know we're supposed to see evil infiltrating Twin Peaks but it was overall just good most of the time where Las Vegas and everything else was amazing

Peggy Lipton, ‘Mod Squad’ and ‘Twin Peaks’ Actress, Dies at 72
Peggy Lipton, the angel-faced actress who starred in “The Mod Squad” and made a television comeback in the “Twin Peaks” series, died on Saturday in Los Angeles. She was 72.

Her death was confirmed by her daughters, Kidada and Rashida Jones. Ms. Lipton received a diagnosis of colon cancer in 2004.

She was 22 when she achieved instant stardom on the ABC police drama “The Mod Squad” (1968-73), one of the first prime-time series to acknowledge the existence of the hippie counterculture and an early example of multiracial casting.

The tag line — “First they got busted, then they got badges” — referred to three attractive, streetwise flower children (“One black, one white, one blonde,” as another tag line explained) who, after some trouble with the law, joined the police force and worked undercover. Ms. Lipton received four Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe Award for her role.

She largely disappeared from the screen until featuring in David Lynch’s 1990-91 cult-hit series, “Twin Peaks,” about a teenage girl’s murder and the surprising number of dark secrets in her Pacific Northwest hometown. There was Ms. Lipton — seemingly untouched by time, with the same long, silky blond hair, slim figure, radiant skin and air of vulnerability — as Norma Jennings, the unhappily married but beatific owner of the Double R Diner.

Although she was best known for her television work, Ms. Lipton appeared in more than a dozen feature films, including “The Postman” (1997) and “A Dog’s Purpose” (2017). Her final screen appearances were in the 2017 episodes of the relaunch of the “Twin Peaks” series, but she also appeared on two episodes (2016-17) of “Angie Tribeca,” playing the mother of her daughter Rashida’s character.

Not sure how reliable they are but there you go.

Showtime Looking To Bring Twin Peaks Back For Another Season
We’re going to need some more coffee!

According to our sources – the same ones who told us Ewan McGregor was returning as Obi-Wan, and that the leads of Ghostbusters 3 would be young teens – Showtime is looking to bring back Agent Cooper and the cult classic horror drama Twin Peaks for at least one more season. Of course, it’s expected that David Lynch would return to helm the project as well, along with the majority of the main cast. Though details are still currently being ironed out, the fourth chapter of the acclaimed series would likely premiere in 2020.

I can't imagine another season of Twin Peaks leaning all that much on the old cast except for Maclachlan and Sheryl Lee, especially with a lot of them passing away. But there are infinite possibilities with what can be done with the show, and that's what I love about it, so bring on whatever Lynch and Frost wanna do.
