I feel kinda bad for them. Like they obviously need psychiatric help.

Nope.

Pretty much everything gets an A or great cinemascore. It measures the hardest of the hardcore on opening night in the big liberal U.S. cities.

The Last Jedi isn't getting a 3.6 multiplier. It'll be lucky to get to a 2.83 at this point. The Force Awakens was 3.78 and Rogue One was 3.43 and getting a high multiplier (gross divided by opening) is easier in December than the other parts of the year.
Still, "The Last Jedi" is virtually a guaranteed hit. The film is expected to open with $200 million in ticket sales this weekend in the United States and Canada, and another $225 million from foreign countries for a combined box office haul of about $425 million. That could put it on track to gross $1.7 billion in worldwide ticket sales, according to analysts.

Worst Star Wars movie and a flop confirmed, then.

See you in, like, 10-20 years.

A film succeeding doesn't make the film's quality any better?

Sure the film had more detractors than Rogue One and Awakens, but the positive reactions were also very strong. Many of those user ratings that you're mentioning can be very misleading. Awakens had a 6.9/10 rating on metacritic for example.

The Last Jedi was actually voted the 8th best movie of the year by metacritic users. IMDb is just a representation of male film fans, and 7.5/10 is fairly solid, actually. Get Out, Wonder Woman and Homecoming are all around the same in there. You are not trying to tell me that those films were also poorly received though, now would you?£

The Last Jedi can be disappointing at the box office and the most divisive Star wars movie without also being a big let down. It made an enormous amount of money, is critically acclaimed, and a lot of fans love it and a lot of fans don't.

That's okay.

This defensive need--by both sides--to turn this conversation into radical binary extremes is pointless and makes everybody look very very stupid.
