Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear... you aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be... #sonicmovie #gottafixfast

This is the worst thing to say after the trailer. If they really cared about this character and this property, then they would have gotten it right the first time. It just exposes the level of incompetence this production must possess.

The character design is the least of their problems...

If it's that easy for audiences to influence the creative decisions for a movie, it shows to me the lack of care for this property starting from the very beginning.

It wasn't exactly easy for audiences to influence the creative decisions here. People have been complaining about Sonic's design from the very first teaser poster. If I had to guess, Paramount was stubborn about changing it (there's already confirmation they fought with SEGA about the design), and after the trailer has exploded, if I had to guess, SEGA is forcing them change it at any cost. This isn't a case of the audience influencing creative decisions, it's Paramount trying to get a quick cash in on another company's prized property.

Yuji Naka was vocal about how disappointed and guilty he felt on Twitter. It's honestly kind of sad to see this all happen.

Still, it just exposes the big Hollywood production approach in their lack of care over a beloved property. If they truly cared about the property and wanted to please the fans, they would not have messed this up in the first place.

Giving a blockbuster live-action/CGI mix family film to a director who's only work is a 4 minute CGI short is also not a great idea
