THE DANISH GIRL: HooperVision is still a thing, now with added Hammershøi. Decorous, petal-scented, skin-deep. Vikander outclasses Redmayne.

The first reactions to Les Miserable were also mixed to positive.£
It's early and Redmayne/Vikander will at least still be nominated.Ruth wrote:lol bye oscars
I wonder how much of this is Hooper backlash vs. the film actually being meh. We will see.

I don't mind Redmayne getting a nomination. A nomination, not an award though.
That backlash would have happened for Les Misérables (a stellar film for the record. By far my favorite of his three films) after all the hate he received for getting the Oscar and it didn't. This film probably just sucks (and it sounds so baity anyway).Allstar wrote:It's early and Redmayne/Vikander will at least still be nominated.Ruth wrote:lol bye oscars

He is a quiet and seemingly passive character, but one who notices and feels everything.Hey U Guys - Positive http://www.heyuguys.com/the-danish-girl-review/This is one of the finest, if not the finest cross-gender performance ever seen on screenThe Wrap - Positive https://www.thewrap.com/the-danish-girl ... om-hooper/Tom Hooper may not have created a masterpiece, but this is a visually attractive film about a fascinating subject. The trans community gets a lush and slightly stiff prestige movie to call its own, buoyed by Redmayne and Alicia Vikander‘s powerful performances.

I will bet cash money with any Hooper fanboy that Redmayne will not win the Oscar again.

He needed undeniable notices to win again and he obviously doesn't have that. It truly may be DiCaprio's year. Redmayne's nomination is still safe though especially because I see this still being received positively, just divisive like Les Mis.ChristNolan wrote:I will bet cash money with any Hooper fanboy that Redmayne will not win the Oscar again.
