Considering how the anime industry works, I'm completely fine with that. Too many production companies either rush the show and the quality suffers, or they compensate with loads of filler and the quality suffers. It might have also been the case that they simply didn't have enough content from the manga to justify starting production sooner/making the season as long as the first.

Still haven't really gotten around to season two though. I mean, I did enjoy the first season but I didn't love it. It was more for the spectacle of the animation and music than the actual story and characters.

It's not the size of the season that counts, it's how you use it.
