It Follows

Why didn't I just watch Halloween instead.

From soundtrack to specific story elements and exact shots...

Soundtrack is different.

Stories don't match.

I'll give you some shots because they're evident but who isn't referencing Carpenter.

This was utterly fantastic. Both this and Hotel Chevalier. Anderson is quickly becoming my second favorite director. Owen Wilson was great here (I normally do not care for him), and Adrian Brody was great too. I haven't seen Brody in a role I didn't like him in so far, and it surprises me a little that he hasn't gotten larger roles. I actually liked this film a lot more than Moonrise Kingdom.

Inception was a revelation for me personally and sort of altered my life after that first viewing and Persona is the only film since to do the exact same thing. It instantly shot up into my top 30 films of all time. I also consider it to be Bergman's masterpiece over his slightly more popular picks (Wild Strawberries and The Seventh Seal get a bit more love) because of how personal and self critical it is.

It's about as "down my alley" as a film will ever get.

The Guest

I remember hearing about this in 2014 and meaning to see it then, I just never got around to it at the time and then completely forgot it existed until I saw it on Netflix the other day. Wish it got more attention, really cool movie. Terrific cast. Everybody did a good job and I don't even really know any of these people. Atmosphere and score were great. Cinematagraphy and the score at the end was amazing. Gotta get the BluRay
