In this day and age, I don't think it will do well. 10 years ago, maybe. But with all the constant backlash over everything, I think people will boycott a black Superman movie.
Black Panther was a big success and there were no racist comments for the most part (at least until after the movie) because that's what the character was in the comics. If you change it, you'll start a shitstorm online.
