I thought the same thing. It was the best hour of television I've seen the whole year. This show is operating at the highest level right now. I hope HBO renews it for another season despite the low ratings. The way this show is able to balance the mysteries and questions it offers while also committing to character development is incredible.

People often forget, Damon excels at certain types of writing and totally fails at others. The Leftovers, like LOST, often revealed his strengths and weaknesses in pretty stark contrast even if I think his talent lies most strongly in television. This episode is a resounding example of his amazing abilities as a thematically minded and even audacious storyteller.

Completely agree even if I haven't seen this episode. I'm doing a rewatch of Lost so far and I'm close to the ending of Season 2. Just fantastic stuff.
He should totally stick to television for the most part.

Well, prepare to love or hate where this show just went haha. I for one thought it was brilliantly done but I also reserve judgment for how it follows up this surprising turn.

Oh my God, I was tense the whole episode. This season is much better than the first one.
About that ending:

Had the same reaction as Michael as this one finished. Incredibly done episode. Ann Dowd & Justin Theroux for all the awards!
Noticed that Lindelof co-wrote this one with Nick Cuse, who's probably the son of Carlton Cuse, Damon's partner on Lost.

I'm not completely convinced with this idea, but it seems like this episode has signified a drastic shift in the direction this series is taking. Up until now,

THAT ENDING. Leave it to Lindelof to go in a completely different direction from the previous episode, but close it like this!
