The hate comes down to his voice. Now, for you..you can say what you want but i disagree. Nolan told him to drop some weight. Was it to fit in the new suit or was it done to portray a more realistic guy who wouldn't have time to train as much as he did before he first put on the cowl? Probably both. And i've heard it was both. Bullshit, when people think of TDK trilogy, they think of Bale. When they think of Dark Knight, sure, they probably think of Ledger but you said trilogy as a whole.MuzzleSuarez wrote:It doesn't just come down to his voice, it comes down to his demeanour (though the stupid voice was the biggest complaint). Knowing that Nolan was going to make a gritty take on Batman, Bale should've upped his game and gained weight. OK maybe he did for Begins but for the sequels he looked awful. Affleck's size is what he should've been aiming for.
When people think of TDK trilogy, no one thinks of Bale (even though he was the godamn protagonist). Now compare Bale to Robert Downey Jr. No one had even heard of Iron Man before him. He carried all of his movies as well as these 2 Avengers movies to multi-billion dollar hits. He became Tony Stark whereas Bale was mocked for the voice (and no, it wasn't mocked in affection).
People heard of Iron Man, they just didn't know much about him. Downey was the first guy to play that character and he still is in that position. Batman is bigger and there were a handful of other actors who played Batman before Bale. That's not fair.
The voice is mocked for affection and hate. It's not only YOUR way. A great example would be Will Arnett, who is spoofing Bale's Batman but he LOVES the batgrowl. Loves Bale's version and feels like he's paying tribute to something great. It's his favorite version of the character. It will always be a love/hate thing but make no mistake, it's memorable, it's now iconic even if you dislike it.
Bale gave a great performance as Bruce Wayne. He played three characters and showed a lot of emotion. The writing of his Bruce and his performance, is the closest we have been to the character in live-action. Affleck could NAIL that part of Wayne/Bats, but he's ultimately playing Frank Miller's version. Only 10 years younger than the comic in order to match the story of them all creating the Justice League and meeting each other for the first time. Bale played a much more well-rounded Batman that was almost like a greatest hits of the comics thrown into a real world filter.
His Batman was great in my opinion, and im positive Affleck will beat him in that area. Doesn't mean that he will be a better Wayne just cuz he looks more like a drawn version of Bruce. And even if he does, that won't take away the fact that people fell in love with Bale's version.
