Ken Loach gives no fucks and throws his hat in the ring
Loach told Sky News: "They're made as commodities like hamburgers, and it's not about communicating and it's not about sharing our imagination.

"It's about making a commodity which will make a profit for a big corporation - they're a cynical exercise.

"They're market exercise and it has nothing to do with the art of cinema. William Blake said 'when money is discussed - art is impossible'."

They're really gonna ask every old dude director what they think about these films.
Ken Loach isn't exactly the guy I would listen to
??? Why?

Loach is a genius.

But the guy is also 83. Same idea goes for Scorsese and Coppola. Great minds, but they really don't have a say in this and don't get to define what cinema is. Age doesn't decide your fate or prevent your relevance, but these guys are mistakenly shouting into a void that they really have no point or stake in.

I can understand Loach's perspective a lot though. He's a socialist and it shows a lot in his films. Of course he won't like these movies.

But can we end this trend of asking old dudes what they think about Marvel movies though? A lot of them are gonna hate it.

Yes, honestly.

Gunn got it 100% on the money.

are they "shouting into a void" if their opinions blew up twitter and provoked several pages of discussion on this forum? i'd say more "speaking into a megaphone"

also it's very telling that everyone has been on the defense attacking their character and no one has countered their points

The void is literally just yelling at a bunch of people that won't listen to them, won't agree with them, and won't change for them. It's pointless for them to do it. Cinema isn't something any single filmmaker can define, and these guys should be smarter than to assume otherwise. I'm not even a big MCU fan. This whole hoopla is ridiculous.
