Why is everyone so dismissive toward this though?
Isn't Yates' track record pretty good?

It is. And we need a great Burroughs movie out there, John Carter was meh, to put it mildly.Allstar wrote:Why is everyone so dismissive toward this though?

There's room for some great jungle stories here, and the cast looks sweet.
I don't think I've seen any of his work besides Harry Potter. And I didn't really like those (besides the sixth).Allstar wrote:Why is everyone so dismissive toward this though?

Maybe this will suffer the John Carter sort of fate. Tarzan is obviously a bigger name these days thanks to this fella.
Gilliam is the exact opposite of a sell-out, in fact he'd be better off if he sold out more, Burton's making something in the vein of Ed Wood and is one of the more singular and individual American artists of the last 2+ decades, and as for Newell making Prince of Persia, he made Dance with a Stranger and Donnie Brasco as well, so what of it? Kubrick made Spartacus, which was a gun-for-hire job... is he a sellout forevermore?Peace wrote:Gilliam and Burton are sellouts as well. Newell made Prince of Persia.
^This is gonna be so much better.

I'll watch if Waltz plays a gorilla.
