No. The Sidious. Luke is the Yoda.

Or Luke is the Ben. Or Luke is the Han. Or Isaac is the Han. Or Serkis is the Ben. Or Sidious is the Yoda. Or Han is the Han.

My father's first reaction was "Is the old cast going to be in this movie?"

if you're craving even the faintest bit of new star wars footage, a modern-day mark hammil is seen in this trailer for like 3 seconds

Excellent teaser trailer! JJ has nailed the look and feel of Star Wars, giving everything a fresh update while retaining that classic aesthetic. Sounds were iconic, the droid was memorable, the storm troopers were slick, the Sith was badass, cool lightsaber hilt, and that X-wing shot was amazing...

Then the last scene just puts a big ole GRIN on your face. For a first teaser, this delivers!

The trailer was decent, the only weird scene for me was the Falcon flying, it looked more like a toy than a real spaceship, it didn't match with the environment.

It's still early in post-production. They've got over a year to perfect it.

The best teaser trailer in years. Every shot expresses a couple things at once, making it an incredibly dense and tonally dynamic trailer. I love the jeopardy of the opening shot, which, in my mind, feels really "Star Wars" without feeling derivative. In fact, the whole trailer feels that way. Major confidence boost for the film on all fronts, with my personal favorite shots being the opening and the X-Wings. That said, I'm nervous about two things even if they're both used extremely well in the trailer. The first concern is how prominent hand held is going to be, based on the hand held camera following the Sith. I want hand held to be used, but smartly and selectively. The second is how often JJ uses the big show-y shots like the Falcon at the end. Like the hand held, I don't want too many of these. JJ's style is loud, and since the world of Star Wars is so loud on its own, the two together could be like looking at a painting with too bright colors that clash.

If the subsequent trailers are this thoughtfully made, I'm worried everyone's hype level (including my own) will get so out of control if it's anything less than the original trilogy fans will rebel.

tl;dr- SO hyped I could pull the ears off a gundark.

Nice V. What do you think about the droid? Handheld shot with the sith works because it gets you in the moment and wants you to 'shit your pants with you mouth wide open' (paraphrasing recent Cameron comment) - it's cold, dark and effective. The second one with the Falcon is showy as it should be, also shot in IMAX - too many of any of these would be less effective so I'm hoping it's all toned down a couple of notches from, say, Star Trek 2009, and judging by the total control of all the other shots, I'm fully expecting it actually is.

That being said - fuck yes.
