Spoiler's follow, however I don't think knowing them before hand is a detriment to the experience in this case.
Somewhat of a jumbled set of messages, I think. It begins with a very clear social commentary on the mob mentality, and how people react to injustices as a group (relevant as it'll ever be with the Zimmerman case coming to a close, so I'd recommend watching the film soon if you haven't), and that's stimulated and made fascinating by a genuine sense of intrigue into the murders of these children, and a pretty brilliant sense of visual information through editing. This sense of intrigue and political commentary are dropped mid-second act, though, and instead it turns into a way too on-point "take care of your children" message, in a pretty nonsensically way, narratively and through character actions. I would have preferred if Lang kept to the route he seemingly started on in the opening portions of the film, however purely as a concept piece and historically fascinating piece of editing, it's well worth watching.
