I still have a few must-see films before making my list.

Holy Motors. Beasts of the Southern Wild. Les Mis. Django Unchained. Zero Dark Thirty. Life of Pi.

I should probably check out Amour but it doesn't seem like my thing. Same with Silver Linings. I'm sure they're both excellent films, just not really what I'm into. Sort of typical dramas that happen to be done well typically stay with me about 2 minutes after I saw them then I'm done. That's how it was for Blue Valentine, Shame, etc.

I agree with everything you said outside of Blue Valentine which I find quite good with memorable performances.

Well, it is arguably. I prefer to watch about 10 more or less decent films per year instead of watching 20-30 ones and a half of them will be surely shitty. I am not alone I guess.

How do you know they're shitty if you haven't seen them? I watched 44 movies this year and at least 75% of them were great. And the rest were quite good (with 2-3 exceptions)
