Re: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (TV)

The Flagsmashers storyline is lacking any sense of agency. It's most likely due to the virus storyline being cut from the film but without it, the first episodes just felt like Flagsmashers are just wondering around most of the time while Sam, Bucky and Walker are overly concerned with them. They k...

Re: Killers of the Flower Moon (2022)

With Hugo, for very different reasons, it's the only Scorsese that moved me to my core. Funny enough, both movies are in my bottom 3 of his career, with... Mean Streets (which for me is probably his most overrated work). I had a completely different emotional reaction to them, especially Hugo, whic...

Re: Killers of the Flower Moon (2022)

This is a milestone in the way that the Irishman was by uniting De Niro-Pacino-Scorsese-Pesci-Keitel just by having DiCaprio and De Niro share the screen in a Scorsese movie. Him finally having his two biggest muses in one film is a big deal. Hopefully it ends up being more engaging and less awkward...

Re: Your real life picture!

I remember when I was turning 30... I got so bummed about it as I was stuck in a dead end situation in a job without any career opportunities and being single. But as it turned out, my 30s (other than the pandemic, obviously) have been a time of great self-development. I got married, got a dog and a...

Re: Tenet - Awards Season Discussion Thread

How can it look exactly like two completely different looking films? :P If you said it looks like Interstellar or Ad Astra, I might have understood that but Gravity and Interstellar?

Re: Untitled Knives Out Sequel (TBD)

Relativity. By mildly successful, I meant in comparison to James Bond, which they were willing to only put out only 300 million dollars. Obviously, Knives Out was a success for a mid-budget production. You can compare it to Get Out or Us. But a blockbuster in the vein of James Bond it is not. That's...

Re: The Last Duel (2021)

I'm not sure he needs a "comeback". He has become a definition of a hit and miss director in this century and I doubt this trend will change. For every Covenant, you get a Prometheus; for every Good Year, you get American Gangster; for every Exodus, you get The Martian; for every Kingdom of Heaven y...

Re: Godzilla vs. Kong (2020)

A franchise of diminishing returns unfrotunately. I rewatched all three films before this and it does get worse with each film. I wasn't so hot on the first Godzilla upon the rewatch either. It's easily the best one in portraying scale and stakes - when the monsters fight it does feel consequential,...

Re: Untitled Knives Out Sequel (TBD)

So this wasn't an April Fool's joke? Lol, what? 400 million for two sequels to a mildly successfull movie (financially)? Are they crazy? I liked Knive's Out but a surefire franchise this is not. Craig's character can work as a Holmes/Poiroit but there's really zero guarantee that the sequel's myster...
