The only negative review I've seen is the Village Voice, which is par for the course. All the nerd critics and bloggers are gaga.

Phoenix could do a compelling Stephen Strange in his sleep. I honestly have no idea how he would tackle the character, and that's what makes it so damn exciting. Marvel and all of us would be lucky to get him. If this is legit, I wonder how many movies he will sign up for.

Even the "fresh" reviews are backhanded complements. Exactly what one would expect from the rock ratner a familiar story and a decent budget.

I have to admit I really really like that. The color is fantastic. A very clear break from recent past and a shout out to the early days. I hope the one Batfleck wears is basically identical to this one. Probably won't be.

Seems iffy at best but I'm still rooting for Goddard to pull something moderately subversive and fun out of a questionable premise.
