Re: The Immigrant (2013)

Alex Billington ‏@firstshowing 4h The Immigrant - Yea that was a trainwreck. Boring story, awful performances. Even Marion Cotillard could've save it. Worst of fest. #cannes Phoenix sinks. Sending Alex Billington to Cannes is like sending Jonathan Rosenbaum to ComicCon. What was the lil' geek doing...

Re: christopher nolan is influence by ridley scott visual st

when I watch TDK I get a very.. 2001 feel. A lot of panning, a lot of wide's, a lot of longer cuts, the main thing is that Kubrick famously lets his shots really breathe, you absorb the image, and that sets the mood, tone, everything. Nolan did the same with TDK. I know I'm replying to a three year...

Re: Transcendence General Information

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akq9pFva5fA I wonder if the studio sent him a little somethin' somethin' Would explain a lot of Roeper's reviews recently. He's never been a particularly good critic but I don't remember him being this easy to please back when he had Ebert and Roeper. A- to 300: Rise ...

Re: Interstellar General Information

You guys are hilarious.

I can't imagine any other fanbase being *this* obsessed with Oscars.

I hope C. Nolan makes Hell and Gone just so he can win the Oscar! Quality of the film and whether I'll actually like it is completely irrelevant.

Well, one of the reasons Cuarón won the DGA award (and could win the Oscar) has a lot to with the long, unbroken shots, the camera work and the use of 3D in that film.

That stuff is not exactly Nolan's forte.

Why are Nolan's fanbase so comedically obsessed with awards?

Re: Interstellar Teaser

DOP's usually don't make for great directors. That's the harsh truth. Except for maybe Nicolas Roeg.

I just hope Transcendence is better than Janusz Kaminski's Lost Souls ;)

Re: Interstellar Teaser

So are Paramount/Warner forcing Nolan to release a teaser against his will even though they have no footage and the film is a full year away... or is this Nolan's doing? The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel were all grotesquely over-marketed and it looks like this film will follow...

Re: World's Finest (2015)

The problem with Zimmer is that he's completely "typecast" as a composer at this point. It's actually kind of amusing to think that this is the guy who got his first Oscar nominations for scoring Rain Man and Driving Miss Daisy . And now everybody associates him with action movies. I sort of wish he...
