Sporting Metaphors

I'm not Talli although I sympathize with him/her already. I've posted previously in the Inception forum and came back to see if things might have improved. But the quality of discussion here is very poor. Worse than it was back then. And the posters with the highest number of posts are the worst off...

Sporting Metaphors

Let me make this as simple as I can: The question is whether Nolan intends us to view the football match as a metaphor for anything, like the CLASS CONFLICT that is the central theme of the book on which the film is based. The color symbolism is interesting, and is consistent with earlier films. And...

Sporting Metaphors

In case you missed the memo, I honestly don't care whether you call that color yellow or orange. Nor does it bother me to be called a douchebag by someone whose instinctive response to the idea that an English major might use color symbolism is hostile incredulity. And if you want to beat me up on w...

Sporting Metaphors

Maybe the color contrast might matter in a film about class conflict and revolution, and in which Bane's army consists of shoe-shiners and floor-cleaners and other members of the working poor. And perhaps the sporting reference emphasizes the points we see made elsewhere: that the revolutionaries an...

Sporting Metaphors

Dudes, I'm making this claim from memory, not some digital copy of the film on my laptop. I don't particularly care if anyone wants to call it yellow or orange. But if you look at the shots of the crowd in the stadium (photos please), the color you see is exactly the same as the color of the lamps l...

Then the fans are all idiots, wearing the wrong color.

The next time you watch, look at the color of the lights on the walls of the sewer.

Watch for it the next time you see the movie and you'll notice it.

Sporting Metaphors

Saw the film for the third time last night and only then noticed the meaning of the football match -- the battle between blue and orange "helmeted" opponents which seems to be directly paralleled to the battle between the figures of authority (not only the "boys in blue" but also the color of the Ma...

Batman/Bane Parallels

Here's one thing to add: Bane's cave below Wayne Enterprises is a double of Batman's cave below Wayne Manor. Both lairs have underground waterfalls and what appear to be electronic surveillance centers.

Also: the electronically modulated voices.

A Suggested Reading of The Dark Knight Rises

Hi Everyone, I didn't manage to see TDKR until earlier this week, and missed a lot of the early excitement over the film while trying to keep myself spoiler-free. So while I'm at a bit of a disadvantage knowing what people have argued here in the past, I wanted to take some time to put together an e...
