Re: Interstellar General Information

The behind-the-scenes bit on TARS & CASE has confirmed their dimensions as 5'-8" high, 2'-6" wide, 9" deep. For those parts of the world not being affected by SCP-5280-J, that's 1.727 m high, 0.726 m wide, 0.2286 m deep. The ratio of 1/3.33/7.55 as opposed to the monolith's dimensions of 1/4/9, sinc...

Re: Interstellar General Information

When they are near the wormhole, Romilly asks Cooper to stop the spinning of the Endurance because they are close enough to the wormhole to see it. But why is Romilly in zero g when he asks that? When the Endurance spins it creates artificial gravity which means he should be walking... Romilly was ...

This is in error. Saturn's orientation in Romilly's presentati...

Re: Miller's "Thumbs Up" signal...

[ looks outside airlock window ] Miller: "Oh, cool! Water, clouds, gravity's a bit high but manageable, picturesque mountains in the distance... it's humanity's lucky day! Too bad I can't plant a flag, though." [ pushes thumbs up button, steps out the airlock ] Miller: "Alright, time to break out th...

Re: The "Scientific Critics" of Interstellar

I'd assume they wouldn't have bothered to include the scramjet phase unless there were some significant additional savings in terms of the fuel mass needed to achieve a given delta-V. Anyway, I think your suggestion in this post to have the Ranger use a nuclear lightbulb engine is an excellent one ...
