Re: Dunkirk Awards Season Discussion Thread

There's an incredibly good chance I won't see a single film in 2018. Cinema is dead. Just do what I do. See Nolan's movies and stream old films, whether they be from golden age Hollywood or foreign arthouse. New movies are generally underwhelming, and I can't wait for the inevitability that is "Bla...

I'll never understand as long as I live why the Academy felt that Del Toro either needed to be awarded for this particular average film or a recognition for his solid, but lesser filmography compared to Nolan. It's nonsensical.

They wanted to make a political statement. Case closed

Re: Dunkirk Awards Season Discussion Thread

Nolan recieved the least amount of applause out of all of them. What the actual fuck He doesn't play the political game + he's a white male. Honestly though considering these people probably voted either Shape of Water or Get Out For best picture... is their esteem and opinion really worth anything...

Re: Dunkirk Awards Season Discussion Thread

Wait, didn't The King's Speech also win four Oscars that year? So that was a tie, too Yep. Inception and King's Speech tied in 2010 with 4 apiece. I think if Dunkirk, God forbid, nabbed one more it would probably have enough to at least tie. I can't see any film winning more than 4 Oscars at this p...

Dunkirk might actually do a repeat of Inception with most wins of the night.
It might tie it tbh... depending on what Shape and 3 Billboards end up winning.

But who knows...

Re: Dunkirk Awards Season Discussion Thread

Lee Smith is one of the longest collaborators of Nolan, working on all his films since Batman Begins. He's also been an film editor for 30 years. What a fucking deserving win. Dunkirk's editing was jaw dropping. I'm shocked he won tbh. It seemed like everyone was complaining about the editing being...

Re: Dunkirk Awards Season Discussion Thread

I think I’d rather see mudbound win cinematography, and Rachel be the first woman to win, than shape. Even though I think Hoyt probably deserves it, Deakins Has been nominated so many times, he’s way past due You could even make the case that Bruno Delbonnel would be a better winner because he's pr...
