Re: Last Film You Watched? VI
Is there a particular website that indicates the aspect ratio that films were shot in? Curious about Little Women and Knives Out, two of the most recent I watched.

Re: Little Women (2019)
Bought the soundtrack today. I hope it's good. Score is amazing. I wonder why Little Women isn't in more of the conversation for the major awards--at first I thought it was because it was released so late in the year (December 25th) but then again, so was 1917 (but I think 1917 was screened a lot e...

Re: Little Women (2019)
its funny how many tricks from inception are used, like very different palettes and so on. but whereas that felt like an intellectual juggling act, this just felt effortless and simple, closer to, say, the elegance of how RJ cut the "force-time" sequences in TLJ anyway all bow down to greta. -Vader...

Re: 2019-2020 Awards Season
Reflecting on the films of 2019, where do you all rank 2019 compared to the rest of the years in the previous decade? Still having yet to see 1917, I see potentially more films released in 2019 that I will revisit than any other year in the previous decade. If you look at the films that are up for a...

Re: Little Women (2019)
Just got out of the theatre---I loved it. Amazing ensemble, maybe the best of the year. If Ronan and Pugh (and possibly Chalamet) don't get Oscar noms, there is no justice! This movie also better be nominated for Best Picture. It most certainly is one of the top 8 or 9 of the year, without hesitation.

Re: The Irishman (2019)
The Irishman is the best film I've seen this year. But at the same time, this is kind of amazing to me---some random guy used free software and made the deaging look arguably better than the millions of dollars Netflix spent.

Re: Recommend Me A Movie Topic
What are Humphrey Bogart's best films? I've only seen Casablanca. Start with Maltese Falcon and African Queen. Maltese Falcon I greatly enjoyed. Reading a few reviews after watching the film made me appreciate it even more considering the context of when it was made and the infuence it had on the f...

Re: Joker (2019)
like I said about it earlier this year, the most dangerous (and bad) thing about the movie isn't that it promotes an incel message, it obviously doesn't, it's that it doesn't have a message period. instead, it recklessly and incoherently juggles half a dozen "hot button" issues and manages to do ab...
