Re: Trailer #1

The music in trailer 1 actually sounds like it would fit for a new high end Superman adaptation too. Absolutely love it. Even if it’s not the original score for Oppenheimer. The acting and visuals in both the IMAX and regular trailers are looking like top tier Nolan work. Very confident and excitedl...

Re: Trailer #1

The life story of Oppenheimer and his scientific brilliance leading up to the detonation was a true great adventure, and everything after the successful detonation his life became a dread filled moral nightmare. The black and white congressional scenes seem to suggest that. RDJ looks like he’s cooki...

Re: Trailer #1

Oppenheimer and Barbie opening the same day is good for movie theaters and I’m sure that’s how Nolan and Gerwig both see it too. They’re excellent counter programming.

Interstellar and Dunkirk in the Lincoln Square IMAX in NYC had me super weepy. Not to mention the full body chills/reactions from the sounds and visions.

Re: what is christopher nolan weakness as a director??

I think in his blockbuster/‘crowd pleasers’ I could really do without the subtle ‘heh-heh’ jokes. They’re too dry for me. That’s why I think Dunkirk’s fleet runtime and script are major virtues of that movie; letting the sights and sounds evoke everything we need to get the “feel” of the movie acros...

Re: Metaphorical language of C. Nolan

For me personally Dunkirk is about spiritual existentialism. In my case a lapsed Catholic perspective. I find it a very religious type of film even though on the surface it’s entirely secular and has no obvious spiritual overtones. The emotional undercurrent of that movie is 100% about God’s eye vie...

Re: The Christopher Nolan Appreciation Thread

Does anyone else like me think that by 2022, especially the summer, movie theaters will have an epic rebound? The reliance on streaming as a contingency in a pandemic environment is totally logical and the platforms certainly aren’t going anywhere. But in a world where the vast majority of the popul...
