I genuinely think the only one who has jealous, and quite frankly, bitter peers is David Fincher.

Him losing Social Network Best Director to Tom Hooper Kings Speech was the biggest fuck you I’ve ever seen.
Nolan didn't even get nominated for Inception, which is a much bigger snub IMHO.

Re: Box Office

By Friday...Oppy will be past Interstellar's $240 million inflation-adjusted total in the domestic market, and still has another $50+ million in the tank. Epic run for Oppy!

Re: Box Office

Wonderful numbers around the world. Glad it was able to go above $29 million for the domestic weekend. Even though Meg 2 had the higher weekend, Oppy jumped ahead of it by $1.7 million on Sunday. That gap will get bigger in the coming days.

Re: Box Office

Already made it past Dunkirk's worldwide total in 3 weekends. Strong chance to reach $800M. That is awesome!

Re: Box Office

I just hope the movie has enough juice to get past $300 million domestic. That would be a pretty cool accomplishment. So far Oppy has had legs pretty similar to Dunkirk. It will need similar legs to Dunkirk the rest of the way in order to reach $300 million domestic. We'll see how it goes, but it s...

Re: Box Office

Looks like Oppy will pass Dunkirk's inflation-adjusted total of $220M domestic by end of Sunday. Also looks like it will pass Dunkirk's worldwide total of $530M pretty soon as well. Cruising along nicely.

https://twitter.com/GiteshPandya/status/1686058116700422161?s=20 Would be amazing if it can go over $800M worldwide. The overseas performance has been pretty shocking, and it sounds like pre-sales in South Korea are very strong. Hopefully China will provide a good performance as well. It's all icin...

Re: Box Office

Here's the screenshot from the Variety article a couple years ago. Variety (and rival studios) were already accounting for Nolan's special deal, and rival studios might have been overestimating this number if anything to make Universal & Nolan look bad if it came up short of $400 million: https://i....

Re: Box Office

My point of all of this was to say you want to play on the safe side of things, not assume that it has already broken even. And yes, there are many things we haven't factored in, such as exclusive rights to IMAX and whatever else may be involved. So to say that $400 million is the breakeven point t...

Re: Box Office

My point is that factoring in the 20% on first dollar gross would be judging Oppenheimer's box office by standards that don't apply to other films. Let's put it like this: the only reason that you are sitting there trying to make calculations at all is because Mr. Nolan's '20% on first dollar gross...
