Re: Ready Player One (2018)

This looks like the utter nadir of nostalgia culture. Spielberg's involvement is the only thing keeping me marginally interested. Hopefully more like Tintin than anything.

Re: 'Dunkirk' Nolan Fans Member Reviews (NFometer)

I've already posted this elsewhere on the forum, but because this thread is the official receptacle for it: Nolan crafts one of the most visceral war films ever made, examining heroism, cowardice and the moral quandaries in between. Re: Controversial Opinions About Movies Part II

To be clear, I'm not faulting Pacino's performance which is considerable, and the filmmaking is unimpeachable. But tonally there's such a tone of depression and doom, which I realize is the intent, but I find it tough to watch. I'll go further and say that while The Godfather Part II is often brilli...

Re: Controversial Opinions About Movies Part II

The Pacino portions of The Godfather Part II are superbly made but miserable to watch.

Re: Song to Song (2017)

This is probably the weakest film from Malick, as its portrait of restless youth is equally obtuse and occasionally aimless. And yet it's still pretty good, in which a few individual scenes have a startling intimacy, particularly one involving Gosling.
