Re: Notes from Wally Pfister talk at Cine Gear Expo
Kyle- The second part of my comment wasn't necessarily directed toward you, it was just a statement to through into the mix. I'm not trying to bash photochemical post, I'm simply stating that Wally seems to think that anything done digitally is inferior to analog, which simply isn't the case. Digit...

Re: Notes from Wally Pfister talk at Cine Gear Expo
film is 'limitless,' but for the sake of argument most people agree that 35mm film contains 8k, or 8,000 lines of information. No. Wally himself has said that even scanning 35mm at 6k is pushing its resolution. Film is not limitless, blown up enough, it will look bad. 65mm is 8k, and could probably...

Re: Notes from Wally Pfister talk at Cine Gear Expo
Which would be a tragedy, if the movie was actually worth anything to start with. Though the AbramsTrek is for me an abomination, so they could have finalled the movie as NTSC and it wouldn't have made a lot of difference (it might have been better, if it had blurred out more of those epilepsy-indu...

The image you see on screen has been at least digitized once, which is why I'm confused by Wally's logic. Also, all movies master formats are printed ...

Re: Superhero Short
That's about where I was when I was 19. I did a lot of animated music videos, and motion graphics, but I wasn't shooting very many short films, either. You're in good shape-- as long as you know what you want to do, and you're committed to it, you'll figure out a way in. I know that sounds cliche, ...
