Re: Oppenheimer - Early Reactions

Rarely post but reading this thread and almost every pre release thread you’d never know this was a forum for Nolan fans. If anyone raves about the movie they’re a fanboy (even in the media) & doesn’t count. Some do their best to dig out any rare negative comment and use that as the stick to beat e...

Re: Soundtrack: Göransson Returns

I'm not going to deny Nolan's passion for Tenet. I like that movie a lot and find that there's a lot to admire about it. But this project, in every aspect, has felt like more of a passion project. Everyone likes saying it's his "one for them one for me," but with this music, the production and the ...

Re: Oppenheimer - Early Reactions

RDJ is likely a lock Cillian has a good chance Blunt might get it too I think Cillian and Emily get the noms though if this film is not a tremendous flop like Babylon was Is it possible that some of those critics are going more haywire over Downey Jr and his performance because it’s been a while si...

Re: Oppenheimer - Early Reactions

These people are truly insufferable. Sadly, guys like Villeneuve are afraid of getting this backlash and end up empowering female characters for the sake of it. I think what you said here is perhaps important. I feel there are people who consider "good" female characters as long as they are empower...

Re: Oppenheimer - Early Reactions

This is called Oppenheimer not Kitty. I'm sorry, but that character was very memorable in the book. To reduce her to a stressed mother? She was a bad mother, a scorned wife, an alcoholic. He relied so much on her too. Where did it all go? You watched the movie already or basing yourself on that per...

Re: Oppenheimer - Early Reactions

I just want to see a near universal positive reception because I guess it's tiring to read the back and forth on Nolan especially over these last few years. But of course, I'll be happiest if I enjoy it a lot personally vs others. I understand this. :/ I think it would be nice in that sense. I get ...

"The female characters suffer from a lack of development. (...) Overall, the film lacks emotion."

Cliché in any "post-The Dark Knight" Nolan's movie review.
We thought similar I think. Lol

Re: Oppenheimer - Early Reactions

I care very little about Oppenheimer getting same or near ratings to that of Dunkirk. For example, The Prestige is way down in Metacritic score (to mention one) compared to other Nolan films that came after yet it is considered now different by a lot of people as you all probably know. I mainly care...

Re: Oppenheimer - Early Reactions

Well an "art-house-horror-summer-blockbuster-biopic" sounds exactly like my kind of film, so that's encouraging! If this is actually from someone who saw it, that is. I am with you on everything you said here! Interesting for me to see some stuff like that come up. I hope it ends up being true for ...

Re: Oppenheimer - Early Reactions

its a bit of a stretch to call us in denial when we have nothing of substance to make us think this might not be good, everytime Chris releases a new movie the odds that it might bomb or be bad are there, i dont get this obsession to prove either it will suck or it will be the best movie ever when ...
