Re: Nolanhack's Next Flick

^ what you're describing is what i felt Dunkirk was. It is his most accomplished film, and the one I feel most comfortable calling a masterpiece. It's his 2001 but I agree with what you're saying about his interests expanding to different areas of cinema. going smaller would force him to think diffe...

Re: What Actors Would You Like To See Nolan Work W/ Again?

he'll be taking 1 or 2 actors from Tenet onto his next, presumably. Debicki seems like a lock. Pattinson has an outside shout, depends on his Batman schedule.

Bale as a lead, or villain, feels like it'll happen again. and of course Hardy at some point.

Re: Tenet - Box Office Discussion/Speculation

this movie will end up doing fine. Internationally it'll have legs. a bummer about U.S. but it'll get some needed cash from those big, unopened markets. ironically, this movie will have its life on HBO Max and grow in reputation there. as for Nolan, laughable to assume he won't be able to do what he...

Re: Tenet User Reviews/Reactions [Possible SPOILERS]

3rd viewing, what was initially obtuse and bombastic is now a razor sharp interlocking loop of belief -- stylized with a far more kitschy playfulness than I initially thought. The film keeps revealing more insights and emotions (effect before cause), and pulls you in deeper while expanding thematica...

Re: Tenet User Reviews/Reactions [Possible SPOILERS]

Sorta think if Inception was directed like Tenet, and used its more on-the-run, obtuse exposition, it would hands down be Nolan's best movie. I think the writing is slightly better in Inception and it's a more dynamic film, especially in the playfulness of the dialogue, but Tenet is the better direc...

Re: Tenet's Cinematography

My least fave of the Nolan/Hoytema's collabs. Still an often beautiful film, but i'm guessing a lot of the work here went into how to do the inversion sequences? Also think the vastly different locations don't lend the film to having a clear "look" whereas Interstellar/Dunkirk are very zoned in on t...

Re: [SPOILER] Discussion/Speculation Thread

second viewing of the finale is much clearer and more thrilling. He's doing Star Wars with it. Wish there was more shown with villains firing back, but it's obviously something specific he's pulling from Dunkirk, as mentioned. I think it's a lil closer in quality to TDKR's finale, although significa...

Re: Tenet User Reviews/Reactions [Possible SPOILERS]

Haven't seen ton of writing about what the movie is actually doing, particularly in its formal interests and how Nolan has been slowly streamlining certain methods since Inception. I gather there will be more interesting writing once more people see it but i stumbled upon this on letterboxd piece by...

TENET = Nolan's "Ryan's Daughter".
secretly Lean's best film (or most interesting we'll say)

Re: Tenet User Reviews/Reactions [Possible SPOILERS]

2nd viewing is like a new film, so perfectly calibrated and it all fits into place. Possibly one of Nolan's best? And there's far more going on here than many are realizing.
