Re: Dunkirk Oscar Chances

The 80 score on the CriticsChoice website (formerly BFCA.org) Um, tbh, I was worried about this score a little. People here were freaking out when it dropped fast to 86 and no one could understand what's wrong. But then I saw some tweet on twitter saying that it is like 5 people who voted there and...

Re: Dunkirk Oscar Chances

The 80 score on the CriticsChoice website (formerly BFCA.org) may put it out of contention in major categories should that score stand (ie all Best Pic nominees the last five years scored 85 or higher; 59 out of 62 have since the Academy expanded the Best Pic category) but I'm guessing it's prematur...

Re: Dunkirk Official Reviews Discussion

It's fun seeing all the forum members who haven't posted in a long time coming out of the woodwork. Glad to know you're all still alive. Icbaseball22, I don't think I've seen you post since TDKR days. Or maybe you were there for Interstellar too, I can't remember. Anyway, do we know how much that t...

Re: Dunkirk Official Reviews Discussion

Re-read the post, slowly. Well I've also read reviews that say The Slate and others are sub 50 but I'm not seeing it, unless they just aren't posted yet or there's some sort of weird West Coast lag going on here... It wouldn't surprise me one bit though; The Slate writers are pieces of shit and rel...

Re: Dunkirk Official Reviews Discussion

I see a lot of people getting irked at negative reviews because they don't consider them fair (I agree with some of them). When you're a fan of someone popular, you kinda need to accept it. It comes with the territory. Certain reviewers sneer at what's popular, sometimes to stand out and draw atten...

Re: Dunkirk Official Reviews Discussion

The 3-4 critics that I really love have given Dunkirk stellar reviews. McCarthy, Roeper, Travers and Phillips. They are the real deal when it comes to movie criticism. These guys have been in the trenches for a very long time. Agreed, these are the guys I tend to look towards as well. Also Kenneth ...

Re: Dunkirk Official Reviews Discussion

Critics Choice is like CinemaScore. I look at it, but it don't matter as much as IMdb, Meta and Rotten. For awards Meta is everything. For legacy I'd say Imdb matters the most.. Actually that's not quite true; I followed the Oscar game for many years and a somewhat strange but reliable indicator of...

Re: Dunkirk Official Reviews Discussion

This is incredible. The only one negative review on RT is from a guy who wanted more of the same old crap. Everyone else is gushing about it. Agreed it's pretty unbelievable, however as one of my friends pointed out WW2 is typical "critic fodder"...will be mighty interesting to see how the general ...

Re: Dunkirk Official Reviews Discussion

Dont jinx it PowerDump, but yes I was thinking the same...I know a lot of us have been saying for years that when it comes to a best director nod it probably won't happen until Nolan makes a war film or like something really dramatic that isn't sci-fi, fantasy, etc at all... I feel like he's come re...
