Re: Trumpocalypse Now

If Trump has not invoked the authorisation under the Insurrection Act 1807 then the US troops shooting tear gas at protesters in DC is illegal, as the Posse Comitatus Act 1878 prohibits this. In any case, Trump has threatened to deploy the US military across the country. 'Unconstitutional' does not ...

Re: Trumpocalypse Now

The Majority Report mentioned a number of things that would need to happen for the US police to be reformed: - you stop giving the police surplus military equipment and take away the military equipment they have because it creates a sense among these departments that they are occupying forces and th...

Re: Last Film You Watched? VI

Jacob's Ladder (1990) Not so much scary as it is sad and very intriguing. I will not say what it is ultimately about but it is initially not very clear whether the film is told in chronological order or not. the performances are all believable and the music and the demonic imagery are really eerie....

Re: Trumpocalypse Now

Honestly, we should be criticising the police more and also more often because they are accountable to the public and if the population is protesting police violence it's very clear where the change must be enacted. The police as an institution has refused to reform itself, nor have police officers ...

Re: Trumpocalypse Now

The police is ideally there to protect the community so if a cop's first instinct is to use violence because they feel like their lives are in danger they should not be a cop because the lives of the people in that community should come first ('to protect and serve', remember?). The job is dangerous...

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)

The fact that it wouldn’t have the terrible added jokes or the side story of the Russian family, thar would automatically make it a better movie for me. Not to mention almost the entirety of Cavill’s scenes were reshot by Whedon. You never know. Snyder's version might be a whole other level and dif...

Re: Trumpocalypse Now

The police shooting what appears to be rubber/pepper bullets at journalists on live tv: https://twitter.com/ChrisBishopL1C4/status/1266546753182056453 Seems like they want to send a message to the press and get the press out of there so they can be as violent as they want without being recorded. You...

Re: Wolfman (TBD)

I love Werewolf movies when they are done well and there ain't that many. Ginger Snaps, The Company of Wolves, American Werewolf in London, Wolf, the Howling and the Wolfman (original and remake) and that's about it for me. What I don't like is when you choose the title Wolfman and then there's no a...

Re: Trumpocalypse Now

When the police arrests CNN reporters on live camera and none of the other police officers speak out against it or try to stop it in that moment, it is difficult to believe the 'a few bad apples' point of view. More like 'if it does not affect me it's not my problem'. The reason they behave this way...
