I think it's obvious he's going backwards. Besides, it's curious that the character appears from behind.

Am I remembering badly or did Pattison say that Tenet had the length of three movies? He might mean that many of the shots need two versions, one where they act forward and one backward. The final footage isn't longer than any film, but it's in shooting. I see two different shots being mixed in the ...

I'm with the idea that JDW doesn't seem to be in control. Plus we see him being grabbed, tied up or harassed. It's not the most usual way to show a protagonist. It feels like a tool that rebels. I can't get the idea of replicants in the Inception universe out of my head. Blade Runner meets Inception...
