This film won't be nominated by the Academy. It be nice to think so if it's as good as it looks, but I just doubt it will get that kind of recognition. Kind of hoping at the very least Johnson will nab a best original screenplay nomination.

I'm expecting this or The Master to be my favorite of the year. Of course I'm trying to keep my expectations leveled.

Yup. Things were incredibly bleak even more so than the last and yet at the same time this felt like the most comic bookish of all the films. Characters go through the whole exile thing and some people are even getting hanged.
