Re: Dunkirk General Information/Discussion

It did got the part wrong about the Stukas being shot down at the end. Since only one was a Stuka and got shot down, by Farrier, and the other was a Messerschmitt, not a Stuka, and flew past the Moonstone after Mr Dawson and Peter made sure he couldn't dive his nose to attack. Interesting. I myself...

Re: Dunkirk General Information/Discussion

Fantastic article on Paste about how Nolan has approached time in his films and why Dunkirk is a new peak for him in that regard. Touches on a lot of things that have been discussed here but really does a good job of explaining why the three timelines work so well and the thematic/aesthetic reasons ...

Are your friends torn on TDKR?

As I imagine is true also for a lot of you, I have a ton of movie geek friends that aren't specifically Nolan fans and when it comes to TDKR, it seems almost split down the middle of friends who thought it was great and friends who were disappointed. Just wondering if you guys have had similar react...

Is TDKR overrated?

NF Reviews/Reactions Only

i love this movie and while i agree that it still feels rushed in spots and some shots could have been held longer, one thing to keep in mind is that we probably all have different opinions about which scenes or shots deserved more time and emphasis (i.e. for me one is when Bruce first tells Selina ...

NF Reviews/Reactions Only

Couple of new thoughts in reflecting on the movie. Alfred - I read Harry Knowles' review over at AICN, and I think he's off base on a lot of it, but one thing I thought he was off base about was Alfred, simply because his entire review seemed predicated on his knowledge of the characters through th...

[SPOILERS] Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate

i didn't think her death scene was bad (or good, but not bad) except for the split second where she actually dies and, yeah, that kind of felt like they didn't pay close enough attention to it when they were shooting it and then when they got to editing realized they didn't have any other shot to u...

Tom Hardy as Bane

there seem to be two distinct sides to Bane. the orator/dictator side that has this pretense of being a liberator of the people and an exactor of justice, and then the more authentic side of Bane, a quiet monster who speaks out of deep pain and has no regard for life.

[SPOILERS] Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate

felt like Tate was just a scene or two short of being a good character but the subtleties of Cotillard's performance were striking on second viewing.
