Re: Oppenheimer - Awards Speculation
Why do people who don’t work on these films and don’t work in Hollywood still follow the Oscars and think highly of it? We have decades of experience that the Oscars represent only represent a tiny portion of the world of movies and their opinion is no more valid than yours or mine. PTA, Scorsese, F...

Re: Hoyte van Hoytema's Cinematography
I think it's time for Nolan and Hoyte to part ways. Hoyte's new collaboration with Jordan Peele is great and I found NOPE to have better cinematography than OPPENHEIMER.

Re: Hoyte van Hoytema's Cinematography
Has anyone ever claimed that The Batman and Blade Runner 2049, who were shot on digital and non-IMAX film cameras, look worse than Interstellar and Oppenheimer? I have always found Nolan’s obsession with the giant IMAX screen and shooting on film to be quite bizarre. It seems like a form of self-ind...

Re: Hoyte van Hoytema's Cinematography
Nolan's IMAX fetish greatly reduces the number of cinematographers he can work with to only Hoyte, basically. I would like to see him get out of his comfort zone and work with Emmanuel Lubezki (Birdman, The Revenant), Greig Fraser (The Batman, Dune), Roger Deakins (Blader Runner 2049, No Country For...

Re: Hoyte van Hoytema's Cinematography
I love you Hoyte, but Greig Fraser is the best cinematographer working today. The Batman is a visual masterpiece and it's a crime that it didn't get nominated by the Academy. Even Roger Deakins, the GOAT himself, said on his podcast that he saw the film 3 times and thought it was best shot film of 2...

Re: 'Oppenheimer' Nolanfans User Reviews
The more Nolan makes films, the more he becomes pursues his obsessions and the more he will turn the mainstream people off. A large part of the population still expects Inception and The Dark Knight type of projects from him but those days are gone and I am glad. He trades mainstream appeal for crit...

Re: Hoyte van Hoytema's Cinematography
Regarding Nolan and Hoyt’s collaboration, in terms of cinematography, for me it goes: 1. Dunkirk 2. Interstellar 3. Oppenheimer 4. Tenet I think it’s time for Nolan to work with another cinematographer. Scorsese, Tarantino, Villeneuve all have worked with different cinematographers and each new cine...

Re: Soundtrack: Göransson Returns
Outside of Can you hear the music track, I can’t remember anything distinct from this soundtrack. Göransson and Nolan gets a B for this collaboration. Tenet gets an A because like Dune, it felt fresh and experimental. It’s interesting how Hans Zimmer cut ties with Nolan, proclaimed his allegiance to...

Re: "Oppenheimer" Reviews Discussion
Nolan's view of women is bizarre and archaic. In his eyes, women are only there to serve the needs of the men in their lives and he doesn't care about them any deeper than that. Why doesn't he hire a female screenwriter to help writing these women characters? Martin Scorsese, Denis Villeneuve, David...
