Re: "Oppenheimer" Reviews Discussion
It's funny how people love to cite critics when they give their favorite IP or filmmaker a glowing score. As soon as they give a negative or lukewarm one, like Interstellar or Tenet, people lose their minds and say critics are irrelevant. Also it is curious that you first said Oppenheimer wouldn't ...

It's funny how people love to cite critics when they give their favorite IP or filmmaker a glowing score. As soon as they give a negative or lukewarm one, like Interstellar or Tenet, people lose their minds and say critics are irrelevant. You were rather adamant that this film would end up with sig...

Re: Oppenheimer - Early Reactions
Interstellar has objectively poor writing. I don’t think you’ll find me a critic or filmmaker who says the film had a great screenplay. However, the visuals, the inspirational quality of the story and the ambition of the filmmaker makes up for it. I am not surprised if a cinephile likes it. Interst...

Re: Oppenheimer - Early Reactions
Interestingly Interstellar also has a 74 on metacritic, same score Inception has. Yet Inception has a much higher RT.

Re: Oppenheimer - Early Reactions
I'm surprised at the more conservative estimates here. These early reactions are definitely indicating higher than 75% rotten tomatoes. For reference, Interstellar which has 70ish % was already recognized as having early mixed reactions. Vulture in 2014: "The first round of reviews are now in for Ch...

Re: Oppenheimer - Early Reactions
Based on the the recent early social media reactions, and the current movie landscape where critics are being extra harsh on IP content and extra positive on original IP and films without abundance of CGI, I think Oppenheimer will end up around 69-75 on Metacritic and 70-85% RT critic score with a ...

The last 2 Nolan films aren't on the IMDb top 250
Dunkirk is critically acclaimed (8.7 on rotten tomatoes, 94/100 metacritic, 9th best film of 2017 by BFI, 2nd best film of decade by Tarantino), but only 7.9/10 on IMDb. I do remember it being on the IMDb top 250, but it gradually fell off the list. Tenet on the other hand, had much more lukewarm re...

Re: Tenet Reviews/Reactions [Possible SPOILERS]
What? I think the Cobb/Mal storyline to be quite heartbreaking and full of emotion. That scene on the ledge makes me emotional every time I see it. Fischer & son with that catharsis also hits hard. Inception is far from cold. So is Interstellar. The Prestige is too cold for me personally in the way...
