I think that the whole "showman vs. magician" thing was a very interesting part of the film. I couldn't help but to relate it to movie making after awhile. I'm not saying this was Nolan's intended purpose (though if it was, it's just another brilliant layer to the film), but it is still interesting ...

its funny to mention that because on that scene where Scarecrow has Rachel on Archam and the Batman arrives and starts beating everyone's ass there's a shot where he actually takes a guy and flies, from the direction he and the guy take on the air is physically impossible he used the grapple gun. :...

He did I guess. But Nolan did turn it down with the flying because it didn't fit the movie. He never took off, just glided.
