Re: Box Office
Starting to fall behind Inception's daily numbers...oh well, the dream is collapsing... I noticed that as well. Inception is what I’ve been really comparing it to the most this whole run thus far - not necessarily the dollar numbers themselves, but the percentage drops day to day. I still think Opp...

Re: Oppenheimer - Awards Speculation
I genuinely think the only one who has jealous, and quite frankly, bitter peers is David Fincher. Him losing Social Network Best Director to Tom Hooper Kings Speech was the biggest fuck you I’ve ever seen. Nolan didn't even get nominated for Inception, which is a much bigger snub IMHO. What about I...

Might be a pretentious choice and probably wouldn't happen - but maybe Song Kang-Ho?

Re: Box Office
I just hope the movie has enough juice to get past $300 million domestic. That would be a pretty cool accomplishment. It might - especially since it looks like the trend of movies this summer (besides Oppenheimer and Barbie) underperforming at the box office is going to continue. As everyone has sa...

Re: Oppenheimer - Awards Speculation
I don't trust anything in a world where Jonny Greenwood's score for Phantom Thread and Hans Zimmer's score for Dunkirk can both lose to Alexandre Desplat's score for The Shape of Water . Like Vader said, it's just people choosing what matches their taste at the time. Ugh don't remind of this. Avera...

Re: Oppenheimer - Awards Speculation
I think the Adapted Screenplay Oscar is a lock for Nolan. Best Director is gonna be a tough one this year. I hope so. If he won Best Screenplay but lost Best Director/Picture - it would definitely soften the blow, because he at least would have an Oscar of some kind (imho it is a crime he didn't wi...

Re: 'Oppenheimer' Nolanfans User Reviews
Finally say this today at the Indy IMAX, which thankfully went off great...no big long review, just add that that it absolutely lives up to the hype. Murphy was outstanding, but the whole cast was tremendous. Not a misfire performance at all. The Trinty Test was one of the most thrilling sequences ...

Re: Oppenheimer - Awards Speculation
If Nolan doesn't win Best Director for this - something that's received damn near unanimous praise from critics - it's hard to imagine him ever taking home that award. Sadly it's all politics though, and he may suffer the same fate as Kubrick in that regard. Which is to say, that's just fine by me....

Re: Oppenheimer - Awards Speculation
To the person above me, you are probably right. But the Oscars do frequently split Best Pic and Best Director. Leftovers might be a stronger Best Pic chance, but whenever I see an Alexander Payne film I feel like his directing is the weakest element - at least the visual component. His films have gr...
