Re: Interstellar's Soundtrack

Hans Zimmer has stated that the organ is a key part of the score mainly because it has rich, earthy tones, which draws toward the grounded, humanistic element of the story (as opposed to sci-fi synths). It also has heavenly connotations, which draw toward the celestial elements and moments of intens...

Re: 'Interstellar' Reviews Discussion

Just came across this article by Kyle Smith... of course, he's looking at Interstellar from a political viewpoint. Can't wait for his full review... http://nypost.com/2014/11/02/man-can-conquer-all-interstellar-breaks-with-leftist-pessimism/ The overbearing political stereotyping here is a l...

Re: Interstellar General Information

All right. :gonf: About the transmissions: yes, there was an explanation of this. This is precisely explained in the film. By Michael Caine's character, as I remember. In more detail, if you want: You see, not only matter, but the information too can move through the wormhole. However, in very smal...

Re: Interstellar General Information

It's early days but the first draft is almost finished. Kurt Russel is in negotiations for the lead role. I'll be honest, when I think about it Kurt Russel's really not a bad choice. Except I doubt he can pull off the voice. That rhymed. And he's too old now. Have you guys seen the new clip showed ...

Re: Interstellar General Information

That's a pretty epic Nolan picture.

One day he's gonna have a biographical movie made about him and that's gonna be the poster.

Re: Interstellar General Information

That's kind of a shame, actually. For Nolan to cite The Right Stuff as such a massive influence, you'd think he'd want to shine a little light on the training. Just like a quick montage or something. Oh well. Well, I think he was mainly talking about visuals (how the space outside is projected so t...

Re: Interstellar General Information

Lord Shade, can you give some detail or paint a brief picture on the launch scene? This won't ruin my viewing experience on Tuesday in any way; I just need to add something extra to my daily fix! Hm, ok... Opening scene in the film is done professionally, but not as impressive as many other scenes....

Re: Virgin Atlantic Spaceship crashes in Test flight in Moja

Well, I was sorta joking, but that was a very interesting read. Well to be honest I was working on that post before yours showed up. :P But yeah, the subject has been on my mind for a while now. I've always been a space nut, and it's been depressing to see where things have gone in regards to that....

Re: Virgin Atlantic Spaceship crashes in Test flight in Moja

A huge problem here is that these issues come at least partly from lack of funding (particularly the Antares rocket), but the disaster ultimately means there's going to be even less funding, making surmounting the problem that much more difficult next time, with even greater pressure, amidst lesseni...

Re: Interstellar Box Office Predictions

I wouldn't read too much into this since there are only 5 reviews and boxofficemojo tends to be light on kids' movies / animation, but Big Hero 6 is currently sitting on a 100% rating. It might not be a total pushover opening weekend. If that's the case then I guess Japanese anime has become a fad ...
