Update: The answer is yes! The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the news.

Sources have told Deadline that Emily Blunt is in talks to join Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer as the wife of J. Robert Oppenheimer. This is the first casting new since the initial project announcement with Cillian Murphy being cast in the titular role. Interestingly enough, Blunt recently stared alongside Murphy in A Quiet Place Part II.  While the casting isn’t yet confirmed, Deadline was the first to break the news about Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer, so their track record here is solid. Neither Universal or Blunt’s reps have commented on the report.
