Deadline is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in talks to re-team with director Christopher Nolan for The Dark Knight Rises. It is currently unclear what role he could be playing in the film. Could there be a third villain? Is there room for a non-villain character that deserves the casting of JGL? Nolan has already brought aboard JGL’s Inception co-star Tom Hardy for the role of Bane, and Anne Hathaway has got the Selina Kyle/Catwoman thing down. Perhaps the Hugo Strange rumors were true? There was that Robin Williams as Strange rumor that popped up a few days ago after all. What do you think?

After months (years?) of speculation and wild rumors, Warner Bros. finally revealed the villains (?) for The Dark Knight Rises via press release earlier this morning. The release announces that Anne Hathaway will be playing Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) and Tom Hardy will be playing Bane.

BURBANK, CA, January 19, 2011 – Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”

In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”

Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.

“The Dark Knight Rises” is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

batwomen 2 Female Lead Roles Up For Grabs in The Dark Knight Rises

Deadline is reporting that Christopher Nolan is narrowing down his picks for actresses for the two female lead roles in The Dark Knight Rises, the much anticipated third Batman film from the director. As suspected, one of the roles is reportedly a love interest of Bruce Wayne’s, while the other is supposedly a villain. Mike Flemming of Deadline claims the actresses on the ever narrowing list are: Rachel Weisz, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightly, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively and Anne Hathaway. We learned last month that Tom Hardy landed an lead role in the film, which like the roles above, remains undefined.

I personally am intrigued by possible villain roles up for grabs, but I am not sure of who on this list could pull it off. I have my choices for the rumored love interest of Bruce’s, but I am interested in hearing what you all think. The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled to start shooting in April, with a release date on the books for July 20, 2012.

Tom Hardy will be reuniting with Inception director Christopher Nolan on the next Batman film, according to Deadline Hollywood. The details on this news are still quite thin, but word is that young English actor has landed a lead role in the still untitled follow up to 2008′s The Dark Knight. Apparently the role is still top secret at the moment. There is no word on whether it’s a villain part or not, but that appears to be the most likely scenario. Hardy was set to star in the upcoming Mad Max film, but that was recently put on hold.
